GVSU advanced to the Championship game after defeating Northern Michigan in the semifinal round. The Lakers won 72-44, getting a career-high tying 20 points from Nicole Kamin. Rylie Bisballe added 19 points and seven rebounds, while Paige Vanstee had 11 points. Ferris State moved on by beating the defending National Champions in Ashland. Ferris jumped out to an early lead, and held off every Eagle comeback attempt, winning 64-59.

The Lakers and the Bulldogs split the two meetings this season, with both teams winning on their home floor. Ferris State took the matchup in Big Rapids71-65, dominating the second and third quarters to lead by as much as 20 points, but GVSU had a late comeback attempt that fell just short. In the rematch in Allendale, the Lakers led by eight at halftime, then outscored the Bulldogs 28-11 in the second half to win 63-38.

Since their loss to Grand Valley State in late February, Ferris State has won six of seven games, only losing in the GLIAC semifinals to Northern Michigan. Leading scorer and rebounder Chloe Idoni was named D2CCA All-Region last week, as she is averaging 16.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. She is averaging 22 points in the NCAA Tournament so far, notching a double-double in the opener against Lewis. Kadyn Blanchard also had a double-double against Lewis, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, then followed that up with 16 more points against Ashland. The Bulldogs are making only their second appearance in the regional championship, last playing in the 2006-07 season.
