Lakers Set for Road Trip at Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team continues their stretch of GLIAC games this week when they travel to Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State. The Lakers will first travel to Detroit to play Wayne State on Thursday (Feb. 8) at 7:30 PM before traveling to University Center, Michigan to play Saginaw Valley State on Saturday (Feb. 10) at 3:00 PM.

The Lakers are coming off an 82-65 win at Davenport last Saturday. That win marked the 1,000th win in GVSU program history. Ethan Alderink and Jalen Charity both notched career high in points in the win. Alderink led the team with 19 points and Charity scored 13 points.
 
The Lakers improved to 6-4 in the GLIAC and 9-11 overall this season. GVSU is averaging 73.1 points per game while shooting 43.5% from the field. The Lakers rank second in the GLIAC averaging 38.5 rebounds per game and are first bringing down 12.6 offensive rebounds. 
 
Ethan Alderink leads the Lakers in scoring averaging 11.9 points per game on 46.5% shooting from the field. Alderink notched a career high 19 points and hauled in 12 rebounds in the win over Davenport for his second double-double of the season. Marius Grazulis has posted 11.5 points per game and ranks second in the GLIAC with 8.6 rebounds. Grazulis leads the conference bringing down 4.2 offensive rebounds per game. 
 
William Dunn has averaged 11.0 points this season and leads the team in three-point shooting. Dunn has knocked down 32 triples while shooting at a 43.8% from behind the arc. Britain Harris has added 10.4 points off the bench. Harris leads the team with 22 steals and third with 35 assists. 
 
Wayne State enters Thursday's matchup with an 8-12 overall record and 2-9 GLIAC mark. The Warriors have dropped their last four games and seven of their last eight. The Warriors are averaging 70.9 points per game on 46.1 shooting from the field. The Lakers defeated Wayne State 74-70 in Allendale in the first meeting of the season.
 
The Warriors are led by Carmelo Harris who has scored 12.7 points per game on the year on 39.5% shooting from the field. Harris leads the GLIAC shooting 91.8% from the free throw line. Ray Williams has notched 9.8 points a game and 5.5 rebounds while shooting at a 44.9% clip from the field. Matt Coffey has added 9.1 points while shooting at an efficient 62% from the field. 
 
Saginaw Valley State enters the weekend with a 12-8 record and 5-6 conference mark. The Cardinals spilt GLIAC play on the road last week defeating Purdue Northwest before falling to Parkside. SVSU leads the GLIAC pulling down 38.8 rebounds per game.
 
The Cardinals are led by three Cardinals averaging over 16 points per game. Toodles Seal who ranks second in the GLIAC averaging 17.5 points per game. Seal also ranks fifth in the conference with 6.2 rebounds per game and is shooting at a 48% clip from the field. Freddie McIntosh ranks third in the GLIAC with 17.3 points per game while shooting 43.9% from the field. McIntosh has added three rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. Tre Garrett has scored 16.2 points a game on 48% shooting from the field. Garrett is second on the team with 5.6 rebounds and first with swiping over two steals per game.
