Lakers Pick Up Big Road Over Parkside Thursday

Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team picked up a huge 72-63 road win at Parkside Thursday (Feb. 15) night in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Lakers improve to 7-6 in the GLIAC, 10-13 overall.
 
Mason Docks led the Lakers scoring a career high 26 points shooting 9-16 from the field and 4-8 from three. Ethan Alderink notched 11 points on 5-8 shooting and hauled in six rebounds. Trevor Smith scored 10 points and Marius Grazulis added nine points and led the Lakers dishing out four assists. Jalen Charity led the team with seven rebounds. 
 
GVSU shot 45% from the field and 35% from three. The Lakers out rebounded Parkside 33-29 and held the Rangers to just four offensive rebounds. GVSU dished out 16 assists on 25 made field goals. 
 
The Lakers jumped out to a fast start and ran out to a double-digit lead halfway through the first half behind 12 points by Docks. GVSU built up an 19-point lead later in the half with under two minutes to go off a midrange jumper by Grazulis. The Lakers went into the break with a 16-point lead. 
 
In the second half, Parkside cut the Laker lead to single digits with just over 12 minutes remaining. Halfway through the second half, the Laker lead was cut to three. The Lakers responded with a 6-0 run off buckets by Smith, Docks, and William Dunn to up nine. 
 
The Rangers answered with an 9-0 run to tie the game at 55 with five and a half minutes remaining. Parkside took their first lead of the game with just over three minutes to go, but Docks would drain a huge three to regain the lead at 61-58 with 2:19 left. Grazulis would score the next three points to GVSU up four and the Lakers would close it out with free throws to secure the win.
