Lakers Open GLIAC Schedule at SVSU and WSU

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team opens up their GLIAC schedule this weekend on the road. The Lakers will open conference action against Saginaw Valley State on Thursday (Dec. 5) at 7:30 PM. GVSU will then travel to face Wayne State on Saturday (Dec. 7) at 3:00 PM in Detroit.

GVSU enters the month of December with a 4-2 record. The Lakers defeated Aquinas 96-52 in Allendale in their last game played. Four Lakers scored in double figures led by William Dunn who tied a career high 23 points with four made three-pointers. Mason Docks and Jalen Charity each notched 12 points as GVSU shot 54% as a team from the field and 48% from three.
 
The Lakers are averaging 81 points a game shooting 49.7% from the field and 40% from behind the arc. GVSU has dominated the glass this season, outrebounding their opponents in all six games. The Lakers have an 11.7 rebounding margin against their opponents. 
 
Jalen Charity leads GVSU in scoring through the first six games averaging 11.7 points. Charity has scored in double figures in five of the six games including a career high 15 points in the win at Malone and loss against Hillsdale. Defensively, Charity has grabbed four rebounds a game including tying a career high nine rebounds in the win against Aquinas and also is tied for the team lead with seven blocks.
 
William Dunn is averaging 10.2 point a game and 4.7 rebounds on 44% shooting from the field. Dunn is second on the team with 10 made three-pointers. Mason Docks is averaging 9.3 points and leads GVSU with 32 total assists. Docks dished out a career high 10 assists in the season opening win against Walsh and nine assists in the win over Aquinas. 
 
Saginaw Valley State is 3-2 on the season. The Cardinals started the season with two losses against Hillsdale but have won their last three. SVSU is averaging 83 points a game on 47% shooting from the field and 38% from three. 
 
Toodles Seal leads SVSU is scoring averaging 16.6 points on 47% shooting from the field. Seal has hauled in 3.2 rebounds and blocked over one shot a game. Freddie McIntosh has notched 14.6 points on 40% shooting from the field and 45% from three. McIntosh leads the Cardinals with 1.6 steals a game.
 
Wayne State has started the season 1-4 and will host Davenport in their GLIAC opener before hosting GVSU. The Warriors defeated Tiffin by 30 before falling to Lewis by nine in their last game. Wayne State is averaging 69 points on 45% shooting from the field and 41% from behind the arc as a team. 
 
Carmelo Harris leads the Warriors with 15.6 points on 51% shooting from the field and 48% from three. Rob Lee Jr. has put up over 12 points a game and leads the Warriors with 19 assists. Tamario Adley has also dished out a team leading 19 assists and has scored over 11 points a game shooting 47% from the field.
