Laker Basketball to Play Ohio State Tuesday Afternoon

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The GVSU women's basketball team finishes out their three-game roadtrip by going to the Big Ten and taking on Ohio State. The Lakers a Buckeyes square off Tuesday at noon.

The Lakers are 11-0 to begin the season following their defeats of Quincy and Drury earlier on the trip. They took down the Hawks on the road 73-58, then beat Drury in a neutral site contest, exploding for 104 points in the 41-point victory. Rylie Bisballe led the way offensively with 31 points, earning her World Exposure Report National Player of the Week. Nicole Kamin averaged 11 points over the two games, while Avery Zeinstra scored a career-high 16 points against the Panthers. Paige Vanstee, Abrie Cabana, and Lexi Plitzuweit also tallied double-figures on Sunday. This is the second time in three years that GVSU has begun a season at least 11-0, as they were 12-0 to start the 2022-23 year.
 
In last season's matchup with the Buckeyes, Ohio State came away with a 73-49 win. Ellie Droste scored a team-high 17 points, shooting 6-11 from the floor. The Lakers won the rebounding battle 34-30 and the two teams both scored 30 points in the second half.
 
Ohio State is ranked 8th in the country, beginning the season 10-0. The Buckeyes have dominated thus far, only playing in two single-digit games this year. Their press has forced over 27 turnovers per game, allowing them to score 30 points a contest off those turnovers. Five Buckeyes average double-figures, paced by Cote McMahon's 18.2. OSU shoots over 46% from the floor and 35% from three and ranks eighth nationally in scoring margin, winning by an average of 33.5 points.
