Lakers Host Hillsdale Wednesday Afternoon

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team returns home for a Wednesday afternoon nonconference matchup against Hillsdale. Tipoff is set for 3:00 PM at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
 
GVSU is coming off two road wins last week. The Lakers defeated Lewis 85-76 and Malone 81-78 to improve to 3-1 on the season. Through the first four games, GVSU is averaging 81.8 points on 51% from the field and 40% from three. The Lakers have outrebounded their opponents 36-26.
 
Sophomore Kaden Brown leads GVSU in scoring with 11.3 points per game an 45% shooting from the field and 41% from three-point range. Brown scored a career high 18 points in the season opening win against Walsh and notched 15 points with five made triples in the road win at Lewis.
 
Sophomore Jalen Charity has scored 10.8 points on a team leading 63% shooting from the field and 40% from three. Charity scored a career high 15 points last game in the win at Malone. Redshirt junior Ethan Alderink has notched 10.3 points on 55% shooting and 44% from behind the arc. Alderink leads GVSU hauling in five rebounds a game. Junior Mason Docks leads the Lakers with 19 assists including a career high 10 assists in the season opener against Walsh.
 
Hillsdale has started the season 5-1. The Chargers won their first five games of the season all by double digits before falling to Winona State in their last game. Hillsdale is scoring 84 points a game on 50% shooting from the field and 38.5% from three. The chargers have outrebounded their opponents 37.8-27 a game. 
 
Senior Charles Woodhams leads Hillsdale in scoring averaging 14 points a game on 50% shooting from the field and 39% from three. Woodhams scored a season high 21 points in the last game against Winona State and has scored in double figures in five of the six games. Sophomore Mikey McCollum has notched 12.3 points on 42% shooting. Junior Ashton Janowski has put up 11.5 points on 59% shooting from the field.
