ALLENDALE, MICH. - The GVSU women's volleyball team is on to the GLIAC Tournament semifinals, where they will take on Northern Michigan tomorrow afternoon in Big Rapids. Opening serve between the two seeded Lakers and the three seeded Wildcats is scheduled for 2:30.

The Lakers advanced to the semifinals with a sweep of Davenport on Wednesday evening. GVSU took the match, winning 25-20, 25-11, and 25-20. Paige Sanders had a team-high nine kills on a .533 hitting percentage, adding two blocks. Meghan O'Sullivan notched eight kills, 19 assists, and 10 digs, while Brianna Stawski had seven kills and 3.5 blocks. The Laker defense totaled 12 blocks and held Davenport to a .020 hitting percentage.
GVSU and Northern Michigan have only met up one time this season, meeting up in Allendale in late October. The Lakers came away victorious in that game, winning in straight sets. They dominated set one, winning 25-13, then went to extra points to win set two, taking it 28-26. They won the third set handily again, coming away with a 25-16 win. Jordyn Gates had a monster game, tallying 14 kills, 19 assists, and 10 digs, all while swinging at a .700 clip. Kendall Stover added 12 kills and Kate Goudreau had eight. As a team, the Lakers hit .448, compared to .091 for the Wildcats.
Northern Michigan advanced after dispatching Parkside in four sets in the quarterfinals. Outside hitter Jacqueline Smith was phenomenal on Wednesday, tallying 20 kills and 18 digs to lead the Wildcats. Smith was one of four NMU players to earn All-Conference honors, as she was on the First-Team. Middle blocker Meghan Meyer and setter Allie Barlow were both on the second team, while libero Liesl Haugen was Honorable Mention. The Wildcats went 20-8 this season and 13-4 in league play to earn the three seed in the tournament.
