• #4 Grand Valley State will hit the road for a GLIAC matchup at Roosevelt in the regular season finale. The Lakers enter the game 9-1 overall and 5-1 in GLIAC action. This is the first-ever meeting between GVSU and Roosevelt.   
 
• Last Week - #4 Grand Valley State dominated the game in every statistical category and claimed a 20-0 victory at Michigan Tech. GVSU rolled up 477 yards of total offense and limited Michigan Tech to 100 yards of total offense. Senior QB Avery Moore threw a touchdown pass to Kyle Nott and rushed for a TD, while RB Khalil Eichelberger added a touchdown run. Moore completed 8-of-16 passes for 138 yards and a TD, while rushing for 94 yards and a TD. Eichelberger rushed for 59 yards, while Syone Usma-Harper added 55 on the ground. TE Gavin Cossou hauled in four catches for 70 yards. Safety Ian Kennelly and LB Anthony Cardamone led the defense with five tackles each. The GVSU defense limited Michigan Tech to 64 rushing yards and 36 passing yards on 6-of-21 through the air.

• Grand Valley State is the winningest FBS, FCS and Division II program in the country, boasting a record of 452-152-3 (.744) in 52 years of playing football. In addition, GVSU is also the winningest GLIAC program all-time with a 320-78-3 mark (.800).

• GVSU leads the nation in attendance after six home games with a total of 73,731 (12,289). The Lakers led the nation in total attendance (100,882) and average per game (12,610) in eight home dates in 2023. GVSU has led the nation for 12 consecutive years.

• Grand Valley State has won 10 or more games 19 times in the 52-year history of the program, including 17 times since 2001.

2024 Senior Class
The 2024 GVSU senior class is 42-6 overall heading into the regular season finale. This group has an opportunity to win 10 games or more in a season for the fourth consecutive year. It would mark the eighth time in program history that a freshman class won 10 or more games in a season for four consecutive years.

 • GVSU is 37-20 versus ranked teams since 2009 and 230-39 versus all teams as a ranked team since 2001. 

• The GVSU defense ranks 10th nationally in scoring defense (13.6 ppg.).

GVSU is 8th in total defense, yielding 242.0 yards per game. The Lakers are 21st nationally in total offense, averaging 419.3 yards per game.  

• Since Sept. 28 (last 7 games), GVSU opponents have completed 63 passes (9.0 pg) for 643 passing yards (91.8 ypg) and two TDs. The Laker defense has held six opponents under 114 passing yards in a game this season.

• GVSU ranks third nationally in team passing efficiency defense (88.88). 

• GVSU ranks fourth nationally passing yards allowed (125.6) per game. 

• GVSU ranks 16th nationally in first-down defense, yielding 143 (14.3 pg).

• Run Offense - The Laker rush offense ranks sixth in the country and leads the GLIAC, rushing for 2,502 yards (250.2 ypg/5.2 ypc) and 27 TDs in 10 games.

Team Game Notes....
• GVSU held Michigan Tech to 100 yards of total offense, the fifth-lowest total in Laker football history for an opponent in a game.

• The Laker pass defense limited Michigan Tech to 36 passing yards, the 12th lowest total for an opponent in GVSU football history.  

• The GVSU defense did not allow Northern Michigan to complete one pass last Saturday (Oct. 12). It marked the first time in Laker football history that an opponent did not complete a pass and had zero yards passing. 

• GVSU rushed for five touchdowns versus Northern Michigan.

• The GVSU defense recorded eight QB sacks (-43) and 15 tackles for loss (-55) vs. West Florida. The eight QB sacks ranks third in a single game. 

• The 58 points scored tied the program record for points scored in a season-opening game (58-16 at St. Joseph's College in 1990) and the 58-point margin broke the previous record of 56 (56-0 vs. Minnesota Crookston in 2001) for margin of victory in a season-opening game.

• Grand Valley State shutout Central State in the season-opening game (58-0), marking the first time in Laker football history that GVSU has shutout opponents in back-to-back games regular season games at Lubbers Stadium (Davenport 30-0, 2023). 
 
• GVSU rushed for 546 yards in the season-opening game, three yards shy of the single-game, school record (549/1974 Findlay).


• The Lakers rushed for seven touchdowns vs. Central State, the most since rushing for seven vs. Notre Dame College in 2012.  

• Three running backs eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark in the same game (Central State) for the first time in school history. The previous record was two that reached the 100-yard rushing mark in 2014 (Chris Robinson 126/Terrel Dorsey 109) vs. Tiffin.

• GVSU tallied 667 yards of total offense (546 rushing-121 passing) vs. Central State, the eighth-best, single-game total all-time. The Lakers notched 668 yards of total offense in 2023 vs. Kentucky State.  

• The Laker defense limited Central State to 60 rushing yards, 35 passing yards, 95 total yards and six first downs. 

• GVSU recorded 12 TFL and two QB sacks vs. Central State. 

• GVSU tallied 15.0 TFL and 8.0 QB sacks vs. West Florida. The 8.0 QB sacks ranks third all-time.

GLIAC Honors
• Sophomore QB Vinnie Meschi was named the GLIAC Player of the Week in his first collegiate start. Meschi completed 8-of-14 passes for 200 yards and two TDs in first half. 

• Junior LB Anthony Cardamone was named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week following his 11 tackle, 2.0 TFL and 1.0 QB sack outing at Saginaw Valley State. 

• Freshman punter Evan Sundermann was named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance at SVSU. Sundermann averaged 45.6 ypg, dropped two at the Cardinal 1 yard line, two more inside the 20 with a long of 58 yards. 

 • Sophomore WR Kellen Reed was named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week after returning the opening kickoff 92 for a TD vs. Northern Michigan. Reed added another KO return for a TD that was called back due to a penalty and he was credidted with 32 yards. 

• Sophomore running back Khalil Eichelberger was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week after rushing for 129 yards and two TDs on 15 carries vs. #20 West Florida.

• Junior punter Trace Hrgich was named the GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance at CSU-Pueblo. Hrgich averaged 46.5 yards on eight punts, dropping four inside the 20 yard line and two inside the 10 yard line. Hrgich ranks eighth in the country.


• GVSU sophomore defensive lineman Josh Schell set a record record for pass deflections in a game with four vs. Wayne State. 

• Senior WR Kyle Nott is the only Laker all-time with a TD run (87), a TD reception (76) and a punt return for a TD (81) that has covered 76 yards or more.

• RS Freshman PK Mathew Bacik converted a career-long and the second-longest field goal in Laker football history, 53-yard field goal vs. West Florida. 

• Sophomore running back Khalil Eichelberger rushed for 119 yards and two TDs on 18 carries vs. Central State (9/5).

• RS freshman running back Kenneth Jones tallied a career-high 116 rushing yards and one TD on 11 carries vs. Central State (9/5).

• Sophomore running back Derrick Woods rushed for a career-high 109 yards and two TDs on four carries vs. Central State (9/5). 

• RS freshman Paschal Jolman toted the ball four times for a career-high 84 yards and a TD vs. Central State (9/5). 

• Place kicker Mathew Bacik set a freshman record with his 46 yard field goal, a freshman record. Bacik was 7-for-8 in PATs vs. Central State (9/5).
