ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – The No. 17 Grand Valley State claimed a 2-1 victory at Roosevelt Friday (Nov. 1) afternoon in their final road game of the regular season. The Lakers improve to 11-1-3 on the season and 8-1-2 in the GLIAC.

Roosevelt opened the scoring late in the first half in the 39th minute. Roosevelt was awarded a penalty kick and scored going top left of the goal to make it 1-0. GVSU would go into halftime trailing by a goal and led 13-5 in shots in the opening half.

In the second half, GVSU would find the equalizer in the 68th minute off the foot of Alli French. After the ball deflected multiple times in the box, French was in good position to kick it with the right foot past the Roosevelt goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.

GVSU would take the lead in the 71st minute off a Roosevelt hand ball in the box resulting in a GVSU penalty kick. Kacy Lauer stepped up and kicked it past the keeper at the bottom left corner of the goal for her second goal of the season.

GVSU outshot Roosevelt 24-8 and 8-3 on goal. GVSU dominated with 16 corner kicks, while holding Roosevelt to zero. Alli French led the Lakers with a goal on a career high nine shots in 85 minutes played. Kacy Lauer scored the game-winning goal on five shots, while playing all 90 minutes. Taylor Reid notched four shots with three on goal. Cailynn Junk got the start in goal and made two saves.
