ALLENDALE – The No. 24 Grand Valley State women's soccer team claimed a dominate 5-0 shutout victory against Saginaw Valley State Sunday (Oct. 20) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 9-1-3 on the season and 6-1-2 in the GLIAC.
GVSU struck first early in the sixth minute of the game.
Alli French put the Lakers on the board with her third goal of the season with the assist from
Emma Chudik. French received a touch pass from Chudik near the top left corner of the box and kicked it past the keeper at the top right corner of the goal.
In the second half, GVSU would add to the lead in the 47
th minute.
Vesna Dennison headed a ball off a corner kick that snuck by the keeper at the bottom right corner of the goal. That goal was Dennison's first career goal as a Laker.
GVSU would make it 3-0 in the 65
th minute off the foot of
Emma Chudik.
Taylor Reid crossed a ball from the right side for
Ryann Fetty whose shot was blocked but went right to Chudik who there to kick it in. That goal was Chudik's team leading fourth of the season.
Two minutes later, Fetty scored her third goal of the season with the assist coming from
Ella Kleiver. Dennison would make it 5-0 in the 77
th minute with second goal of the game coming off another corner kick.
GVSU outshot SVSU 19-6 and 15-1 in the second half. Dennison scored two goals off three shots and Fetty scored a goal and dished out an assist on four shots with two on goal. Chudik added a goal and assist on two shots.
