ALLENDALE, MICH. – The 15
th ranked GVSU volleyball team hits the road this weekend, traveling out of state to take on Parkside and Purdue Northwest. The Lakers and Rangers square off at 7:00 on Friday, then GVSU heads to Hammond on Saturday for a 3:00 match with the Pride.

The Lakers have won five straight matches following their two wins last weekend. They got a thrilling five set victory over Wayne State on Thursday, then ended it with a sweep of Roosevelt on Saturday. For the second time this season,
Brianna Stawski earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors, tallying nine blocks on the weekend, to go along with 19 kills on a .471 hitting percentage. Also, over the weekend, setter
Jordyn Gates set a new NCAA record, totaling the 33
rd triple-double of her career in the win over Wayne State.
Parkside is 7-7 overall and 3-3 in league play entering the weekend. They have beaten Michigan Tech, PNW, and Roosevelt, while losing to Northern Michigan, Ferris State, and Davenport in the conference. Libero Natalie Harris leads the conference with 248 digs and Sam Fisch is second with194 kills. The Lakers beat Parkside both times in 2023, defeating them in a sweep in Kenosha, and winning in four at home.
The Pride of Purdue Northwest have gotten off to a tough start to the year, opening at 3-10 overall, and just 1-5 in conference play. Their lone league win came in a 3-0 sweep of Roosevelt, but they have won just three other sets in GLIAC action. Arra Cottrell paces the offense with 152 kills, while Olivia Brooke and Marina Gronkiewicz have both dished out over 190 assists as setters. GVSU won both matchups last season over the Pride, winning in five sets on the road, then winning in a sweep at home.
