GVSU Back Home this Week for Games Against Purdue Northwest and Parkside

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is back home this week for a pair of GLIAC games against Purdue Northwest and Parkside at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. GVSU will host Purdue Northwest on Thursday (Jan. 25) at 8:00 PM for Coaches vs. Cancer night before hosting Parkside on Saturday (Jan. 27) at 3:00 PM on Sawyers Day.

GVSU is 7-10 on the season and are tied for third place in the GLIAC with a 4-3 mark. The Lakers dropped both games last week at Lake Superior State and Ferris State. GVSU is averaging 72.8 points per game while shooting 42% from the field. The Lakers have hauled in 38.5 rebounds and have dished out 12.9 assists.
 
Ethan Alderink leads the team in scoring 11.5 points per game and has hauled in 4.2 rebounds per game. Alderink has scored in double figures over the last eight games. Britain Harris has scored 10.6 points off the bench this season leading the team shooting 80% from the free throw line. William Dunn has added 10.4 points while also starting in 17 games this season. Dunn has brought down 6.2 rebounds and is shooting 45% from the field. 
 
Purdue Northwest comes to Allendale with a 9-8 overall record and 3-4 GLIAC mark. The Pride are averaging 79.6 points a game on 45% shooting. Purdue Northwest are bringing down 38.8 rebounds and dishing out 13.8 assists a game. The Pride split last weekend falling to Northern Michigan before defeating Michigan Tech.
 
PNW is led by C.J. Jackson who is averaging 14.8 points a game on 43% shooting. Jackson has shot 87% from the free throw line and has hauled in 4.9 rebounds. Brendan Temple has notched 14.1 points on 60% shooting from the field and 47% from three. Cameron Alford has scored 12.4 points while Kalil Whitehead has added 10.8 points while leading the team with 5.8 rebounds.
 
Parkside is 8-9 on the season and 3-4 in the GLIAC. The Rangers are averaging 69.8 points on 44% shooting from the field. Parkside has lost their last three games including both last weekend against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan. 
 
Josiah Palmer leads the Rangers in scoring at 14.1 points a game. Palmer is shooting 40% from the field and 86% from the free line while leading his team with 83 assists. Colin O'Rourke has notched 13.8 points on 47% shooting from the field. O'Rourke leads the Rangers bringing down 5.8 rebounds per game and 24 blocks.
