ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is back home for a pair of GLIAC contests against Saginaw Valley State and Wayne State this weekend. The Lakers will take on Saginaw Valley State on Thursday for 616 night at 8:00 PM before facing Wayne State on Saturday for Hawaiian Day at 3:00 PM.

GVSU split a pair of GLIAC games last weekend. The Lakers defeated Michigan Tech 87-64 before falling to Northern Michigan 63-61. GVSU is 5-8 on the season and 2-1 in the GLIAC entering the weekend.
Ethan Alderink scored a career high 16 points on 5-9 shooting in the win against Michigan Tech. Alderink also scored 15 points and hauled in seven rebounds against Northern Michigan.
The Lakers are averaging 73 points per game on the season on 43% shooting from the field. Rebounding has been a key for success for the Lakers this season as they hold an 8.1 rebounding margin against their opponents.
Britain Harris leads the Lakers in scoring with 11.7 points a game. Harris is shooting 41% from the field and is second on the team with 14 steals.
William Dunn has notched 11.2 points on 49% shooting from the field. Dunn is second on the team with 17 made three pointers while shooting at a 42% clip.
Ethan Alderink is averaging 10.4 points per game on 43% shooting. Alderink has scored in double figures over the last four games.
Trevon Gunter leads the Lakers in three-point shooting having knocked down 24 threes' while shooting 40% from behind the arc. Gunter is averaging 10.2 points and leads the team with 15 steals.
This will be the 110
th meeting between GVSU and SVSU. GVSU leads the all-time series 79-30. Saginaw Valley State enters the weekend with a 9-4 overall record and 2-2 in the GLIAC. The Cardinals split GLIAC action last weekend falling to Parkside 74-55 before defeating Purdue Northwest 72-65. SVSU is averaging 78 points per game on 47% shooting from the field. The Cardinals lead the GLIAC pulling down 40.5 rebounds per game.
SVSU is led by Freddie McIntosh who ranks fourth in the GLIAC with 15.8 points per game. McIntosh is shooting 44% from the field and leads the team shooting 36% from three. Toodles Seals ranks fifth in the GLIAC scoring 15.5 points per game. Seals is shooting 45% per game and has brought down 5.7 rebounds. Tre Garrett has added 14.8 points per game and 5.6 rebounds.
Wayne State enter the weekend with a 7-6 record and 1-3 GLIAC mark. This will be the 90
th meeting all-time between the two programs with the Lakers leading the series 52-37. The Warriors are averaging 72 points a game on 48% shooting from the field. Wayne State has hauled in 34.4 rebounds a game which ranks seventh in the GLIAC.
The Warriors are led by Carmelo Harris who is scoring 14.4 points per game. Harris is shooting 41% from the field and is averaging three rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. Ray Williams has notched 11.1 points a game on 48% shooting from the field. Williams leads the team with 6.4 rebounds. Matt Coffey has added 9.6 points on a team best 67% shooting from the field and 5.3 rebounds per game.
