Lakers Dominate Purdue Northwest 6-1 Friday

HAMMOND, Ind. – The No. 22 Grand Valley State women's soccer team claimed a dominate 6-1 victory at Purdue Northwest Friday (Sept. 22) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 4-1-2 on the season and 2-0-1 in the GLIAC.
 
GVSU opened up the scoring in the 10th minute when Emma Chudik found the back of the net off the assist by Alli French. That goal was Chudik's second of the season and French picked her first assists of the season. The Lakers made it 2-0 four minutes later off a Purdue Northwest own goal. 
 
Two minutes later, Purdue Northwest cut the Laker lead in half with a goal to make it 2-1 in the 16th minute. Later in the half, Purdue Northwest scored another own goal to give the Lakers a two-goal lead again in the 29th minute. The Lakers dominated the first half leading 7-3 in shots, 6-1 on goal.
 
In the second half, Chudik notched her second goal of the game in the 55th minute to make it 4-1 Lakers off a great pass from Taylor Reid. Eight minutes later, Reid found Chudik again for a hat trick to make it 5-1 in the 64th minute. Later in the second half in the 83rd minute, freshman Ella Kleiver scored her first collegiate goal off a nice pass by Amanda Palmer to make it 6-1. The Lakers ended the game out shooting the Pride 11-4, 8-1 on goal.
 
Emma Chudik led the Lakers with a hat trick and now leads the team with four goals on the season. Taylor Reid dished out two assists and recorded one shot on goal. Alli French and Amanda Palmer each notched an assist, while Ella Kleiver scored her first goal of the season. Kendall Robertson got the start in goal for the Lakers and earned her second win of the season.
