ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley men's and women's track and field team completed their final home meet of the 2023 outdoor track and field season on Tuesday, May 9
th as they hosted the GVSU Last Chance Meet.
The men's pole vault squad claimed the top three spots for the Lakers led by
Colton Emeott in first clearing a height of 4.91m.
Wyatt Alwine finished second in a judge's decision with a height of 4.91m followed by
James Nutt in third clearing a height of 4.76m.
Luke Jelderks recorded a new personal-best in the men's long jump, placing first with a distance of 7.46m.
The women's throws team finished first and second in both the hammer and discus events.
Shelby Ulven and
Alaina Omonode claimed the top two spots in the hammer throw, recording two new personal-bests. Ulven placed first with a new best distance of 57.26m and Omonode in second with a new best of 56.17m. In the discus,
Erika Beistle finished first with a new personal-best throw of 53.02m followed by
Kelsi Hulit in second with a distance of 47.58m.
On the track,
Jordyn Hopgood placed first in the women's 800m with a time of 2:17.91.
Grace Pagone and
Emma Everhart-Deckard finished back-to-back in the 10000m, placing first and second. Pagone claimed first-place with a new personal-best time of 34:51.73 while Everhart-Deckard finished second, recording an additional personal-best time of 34:53.26.
Madison Ebright finished it out for the Lakers in fourth with at time of 35:44.78.
In the men's 10000m,
Brock Wooderson,
Koby Fraaza and
Ben Zaremba finished in the Top 5 for Grand Valley State. Wooderson placed first with a personal-best time of 29:27.53, Fraaza in third with a time of 29:44.90 and Zaremba in fourth recording a time of 30:03.55.
