DETROIT – The Grand Valley State women's tennis fell to Wayne State 4-1 in the NCAA Tournament Tuesday (May 2) afternoon.
Wayne State claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles.
Vasileia Griva and
Taylor Barrett dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles.
Ana Romero Gonzalez and
Amanda Diaz dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play,
Taylor Barrett claimed a 7-5, 6-4 straight set win at No. 2 singles.
Vasileia Griva dropped a tough 2-6, 3-6 decision at No. 1 singles.
Rachel Sam dropped a tough 6-7, 7-6, 0-6 three-set decision at No. 3 singles.
Anna Soteras fell 3-6, 6-1, 1-6 at No. 4 singles.
The Lakers ended the season with a 16-7 overall record. GVSU won the GLIAC Regular Season Championship for the second consecutive year and earned a berth to the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive year.
