BIG RAPIDS—The Grand Valley State softball team defeated Ferris State, 10-0, in five innings on Sunday. The second game of the originally scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to forecasted rain on Sunday afternoon.

The Lakers (30-3, 12-0 GLIAC) used an eight-run fourth inning to run-rule Ferris State (18-28, 2-8).

Kaitlin Lynch and
Joanna Cirrincione each grounded out to bring home a run to start the scoring in the fourth inning.
Hannah Hollister and
Eliana Eiland scored on Lynch's and Cirrincione's groundouts, giving the Lakers a, 4-0, lead.

GVSU then put up six runs with two outs in the top half of the fourth inning.

Lydia Goble launched a ball over the left-center field wall for her third home run of the season. She drove in
Megan Koenigshof and herself, giving the Lakers a, 6-0, lead.

Kelsey Komorous and
Morgan Wagner got on base,
Morgan Spicer singled home Wagner for a, 7-0, lead.

Eiland stepped into the box with the bases loaded. She hit a single and drove in two more runs for a, 9-0, GVSU lead.Â

Koenigshof capped off the scoring effort in the fourth inning with an RBI single to bring in
Hannah Hollister.

GVSU needed just two batters to get on the scoreboard.

Lynch singled then stole second base before Cirrincione drove her in with her first of two doubles. The Lakers led it, 1-0, after the first inning.

Wagner grounded out to the pitcher in the third inning to bring home Cirrincione, giving the Lakers a, 2-0, lead to set the stage for their eight-run fourth inning.

Hannah Beatus allowed just three hits in a complete game. She struck out seven batters through five innings en route to her 15h win of the season.
