Lakers Complete Four Meets Within Three Days

AUSTIN, TX./SAN MARCOS, TX. – The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field teams finished out their long weekend after competing in four different meets within a span of three days. The Lakers appeared in Austin, TX at the Texas Relays, San Marcos, TX (Bobcat Invitational), East Lansing, Mich. (Spartan Invite) and High Point, NC (VertKlasse Meeting). 
 
At the 95th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, Myles Kerner brought home a huge second-place finish for the Lakers in the men's shot put. Kerner threw a distance of 19.59m, falling shortly behind first (20.70m) but beating over 10 Division I athletes. Eli Kosiba finished eighth in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.17m. 
 
Over in San Marcos, TX, the men's 4x100 relay team consisting of Steven Harris, Jacody Sikora, Antonio Passarelli and Myles Rhodes finished third recording a time of 40.55. The women's 4x100 relay team made up of Angelica Floyd, Melia Williams, Timia Robinson and Kate Zang placed 6th with a time of 47.70. 
 
In the men's 400m, Myles Rhodes finished seventh with a time of 47.62 followed by Ben Ireland in 10th with a new personal-best time of 47.81. Steven Harris placed 13th in the men's 110m hurdles with another personal-best time of 14.39. 
 
In the field, Jacob Urban placed seventh in the men's hammer throw with a distance of 62.51m. Matt Thomas finished 13th with a new personal-best distance of 59.39m and Shane Byrne in 18th with a throw of 57.42m. Judith Essemiah finished fourth in the women's hammer throw, throwing a distance of 63.57m
 
In High Point, NC at the VertKlasse Meeting, Colton Emeott recorded a fifth-place finish in the men's pole vault clearing a new personal-best height of 4.87m. Wyatt Alwine and James Nutt tied for ninth with a new personal-best height of 4.72m. 
 
The Lakers head to Rochester, Mich. next weekend (April 8th) to compete at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.
