ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State men's basketball team returns home Saturday (Dec. 30) afternoon for the final game of the 2023 calendar year. Tipoff is set for 4:00 PM against Lourdes after the conclusion of the women's game at 2:00 PM.
GVSU is 4-6 on the season and are playing in their final nonconference game of the season. The Lakers are averaging 73.7 points per game on 43% shooting from the field. Rebounding has played a huge role for the Lakers this season as they have outrebounded their opponents 411-323.
Britain Harris leads the Lakers in scoring with 13.4 points per game. Harris is shooting 41% from the field and leads the team shooting 84% from the free throw line.
William Dunn is averaging 10.6 points per game and leads the team shooting 50% from the field. Dunn is also shooting 45% from three.
Trevon Gunter leads the Lakers in three-point shooting. Gunter has knocked down 19 three's and is shooting at a 46% clip.
Lourdes enters Saturday's game with a perfect 10-0 record and 6-0 conference mark. The Gray Wolves are averaging 88 points per game on 50% shooting from the field. Lourdes has won by 20 points or more in five of those games.
Lourdes is led by Jackie Harris who is averaging 23.8 points per game while hauling in 7.3 rebounds. Harris can score at all levels shooting 51% from the field, 44% from three, and 81% from the free throw line.
Joey Holifield is averaging 18.1 points per game and 6.7 rebounds for the Gray Wolves. Holifield is shooting 49.6% from the field, 42.9% from three, and 89% from the free throw line and also leads Lourdes with 19 steals. Shaunn Monroe has notched 16.2 points per game on 59% shooting from the field.
