The Lakers are 7-0 to begin the year for the second straight season, as they took down Davenport last Friday in the GLIAC opener. GVSU beat the Panthers 66-44, overcoming a rough shooting night, as they put together another strong defensive effort to remain undefeated.
Rylie Bisballe was the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week following the win, as she grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds, while adding nine points and two blocks. The nation's second ranked team has the third ranked scoring defense in the nation, allowing only 50.1 points per game. They also have the ninth best field goal percentage defense, as opponents are only shooting 33.6% from the field on the Lakers.
Ohio State is on an eight-game winning streak heading into Friday's contest. The 11
th ranked Buckeyes lost their season opener to USC, and since then they've been hot, winning all eight of their next games by double-digits, winning by an average of over 28 points. OSU is averaging 84.9 points this season, and they have four players averaging double-figures, led by Jacy Sheldon's 17.0. this will be the second all-time matchup between the Lakers and the Buckeyes, and the first since GVSU came away with a 61-58 win in 1976.
