Women’s Soccer Claims 2-1 Win over Davenport in Regular Season Finale

ALLENDALE – The Grand Valley State women's soccer team finished the regular season with a 2-1 win over Davenport Thursday (Nov. 2) night. The Lakers finish the regular season with a 10-2-6 record and finished in second place in the GLIAC with an 8-1-5 mark.

The Lakers got off to a fast start scoring the opening goal in the first 45 seconds. Taylor Reid notched her second goal of the season off a header from a great pass into the box by Sophia Morgan. Twelve minutes later, Reid notched her second of the game and third of the season to make it 2-0 GVSU in the 13th minute. Abby Winn got off a shot from the right side of the box and Reid was there to kick home the rebound after the initial save.

The Lakers would dominate possession and outshot the Panthers 20-5, 8-2 on goal. Davenport would cut the lead in half late in the game with 45 seconds remaining, but the Lakers would hang on for the 2-1 win.
