Grand Valley advanced to the semifinal round after sweeping LSSU in the quarterfinals. Jordyn Gates posted another triple-double, while Sarah Wight had 10 kills in the victory. Tech moved on after sweeping Northern Michigan on Wednesday. In the win, Meg Raabe tallied 20 kills on a .543 hitting percentage and Lindy Oujiri had 10 kills.

The two teams split the two regular season matchups, with Michigan Tech winning the first matchup in straight sets up in Houghton in the GLIAC opener. GVSU returned the favor when the two teams met up in Allendale in late October, as the Lakers took the match 3-1.

The Lakers have won eight straight matches, pushing their record to 25-3 on the year. The 25 wins represent the most wins the program has had in a season since 2014, when they went 27-6. On the other side, the Huskies have won four of their past five matches, moving their record up to .500 at 15-15.

The winner of this semifinal matchup will advance to Sunday's Championship game where they will take on the winner of the other semifinal between Ferris State and Parkside. That game would be played in the Fieldhouse at 2:00.
