The Lakers enter the postseason on a seven-game winning streak, taking home their first outright GLIAC title since 2013. That streak has moved them to 24-3 on the year and propelled them into the AVCA rankings, as they debuted at #25 this week. This marks the first time since 2015 that GVSU has been ranked.

In the only two matchups between these two teams this season, GVSU has come out on top in both, ending them in sweeps. In the two matches, Jordyn Gates had a combined 24 kills and 36 assists, while Sarah Wight had 20 kills and 10 total blocks. LSSU hit below .080 in both contests and only managed to get to the 20-point mark once in each set.

LSSU is 8-21 overall, and 5-13 in GLIAC play, as they snuck into the GLIAC Tournament as the eight seed after they beat Michigan Tech in the regular season finale. The Lakers are led offensively by Mariana Velasque and Emilee McDaniel, as Velasque's 393 kills leads the league, and McDaniel has added 285. Setter Emily Kalinowski is third in the conference with 1,054 assists and has also served 30 aces.
