ALLENDALE, MICH. - Grand Valley State guard Ellie Droste was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week after the opening weekend of play, as announced by the league office earlier today. This is the first GLIAC Player of the week award of Droste's career.
 
Droste helped the third-ranked Lakers to a 2-0 start to the season, as she averaged 19.5 points, and scored the 1,000^th point of her career. She tallied 15 points on 6-8 shooting in the season-opening victory over UMSL, then followed that up with 24 points on 10-18 from the field in Saturday's win over Maryville. Also in that game, Droste became the 28^th player in program history to score 1,000 career points.
 
GVSU heads on their first road trip of the season this weekend, traveling to Findlay and Central State.
