In the first matchup between these two squads last month, the Lakers won in convincing fashion, sweeping the Panthers, 25-14, 25-18, and 25-9. Kendall Stover led the way for GVSU with 11 kills on a .478 hitting percentage, and the team served out eight aces. The Laker defense shut down the Panther attack, holding them to a -0.012 hitting percentage and only 21 kills.

This past weekend, GVSU took down Northern Michigan in three sets and then defeated Michigan Tech in four sets Saturday afternoon. On the weekend, Jordyn Gates went for two triple-doubles, accumulating 35 kills, 46 assists, and 20 digs, while Meghan O'Sullivan added 21 kills. Sarah Wight had 19 kills and nine blocks and Julia Blaney had 26 digs. The two wins pushed the Lakers to 19-3 this season, and 11-2 in conference play.

Davenport enters the game with an 11-13 record, going 7-6 thus far in league play, as they are in fourth place in the conference. Attacker Lindsay Taylor is fifth in the GLIAC with 299 kills and setter Nicole Odeen is sixth with 608 assists. Libero Stephanie Kalinowski leads the conference with 433 digs, and is a big part of the reason the Panthers are only allowing 11.4 kills per set.
