ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's volleyball team returns home for their first set of weekend home matches this Friday and Saturday. The Lakers face off against Parkside on Friday night at 7pm, then take on Purdue Northwest the next day at 4pm.

GVSU beat both the Rangers and the Pride earlier this year on the road, beating Parkside 3-1 and sweeping PNW. The Lakers are tied for fourth in the GLIAC standings at 4-3 in conference and 10-5 overall. Parkside is eighth at 2-5 and 7-8 overall, while Purdue Northwest is ninth at 1-6 and 6-9 to start the season.

The Lakers beat the Rangers 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, and 25-18 two weekends ago in Kenosha. Parkside is coming off a weekend in which they were beat by Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech on the road but had won two of their previous three prior games, as they bested both Wayne State and PNW. Reese Rossnagel ranks fifth in the GLIAC in kills with 169, with the offense being set up by Karlee Lois, who has 310 kills. The Rangers are the top blocking team in the conference, notching 142 blocks as a team, and have the number one individual blocker in the GLIAC in Lindsay Krznarich, who has 56 blocks this season.

Coming to Allendale on Saturday is the Pride of Purdue Northwest, whom the Lakers swept in their first meeting 25-12, 25-22 and 25-18. The Pride come in having lost five straight GLIAC contests, with their only win of the conference season coming against Lake Superior State. Anna Cottrell and Lauren Sanders are the top attackers, with Cottrell recording 110 kills and Sanders having 108. Olivia Brooke and Marina Gronkiewicz split the setting duties for the Pride, as Brooke has 197 assists, and Gronkiewicz has 171.
