FINDLAY, OHIO – What a way to start the season, two tournaments played, and two tournaments won. The Grand Valley men's golf program picked up their second tournament victory of the fall season, setting two new school records and a new tournament record along the way.

Gary Bissell stated. "It was great to see contributions from the entire lineup this week from both the upperclassmen and the newcomers."
The Lakers shot seven under in the last round today to increase their lead over the field and won by five strokes over second-place Findlay. GVSU carded an 840 for the tournament (-24) and set both a new 54-hole school record by three strokes, but they also set a new tournament record by 11 strokes. Findlay was second, shooting at -19, followed by Wayne State (-14) in third, Missouri-St. Louis (-13) fourth, and Ashland (-6) rounded out the top-5.
Charles DeLong shot a 69 (-3) today to overtake the leader and went on to win by two strokes. For the tournament, DeLong shot a 202 (68, 65, 69) good for fourteen under, which set a new GV 54-hole record by three strokes. This was DeLong's seventh career tournament victory, which now places him second in career victories in GVSU men's golf history. Throughout the tournament, DeLong carded 16 birdies and two eagles en route to his win.
Nick Krueger recorded his second top-10 finish of the season as he was tied for seventh at -5 after shooting a 211 (70, 69, 72) after birdieing nine holes over the course of the match.
Bryce Wheeler was one stroke behind Krueger at -4, after shooting a 211 (73, 71, 68). Wheeler tallied 13 birdies over his last two rounds of play in Findlay to move up the leaderboard.
Drew Coble shot even par for the tournament, picking up eight birdies and an eagle, and tied for 18
th, carding a 216 (71, 72, 73).
Andrew Gwilliams was the fifth man for the Lakers, shooting a 222 (77, 73, 72) and placing tied for 53
rd.
GVSU had two individuals compete as well, with
Charlie Cooley placing tied for 33
rd, carding a 219 (72, 71, 76).
Alex Jordan finished tied for 61
st, shooting a 224 (68, 78, 78).
