LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Grand Valley State men's golf team claimed their second win in the 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday, March 29 at the Findlay Spring Invite on the University of Kentucky, Big Blue Course. The Lakers recorded the fourth lowest 54-hole score in school history scoring 854 (-10). The Lakers led the invite in birdies with 54, and had the best par 5 average of 4.67.
Charles DeLong was named to the All-Tournament team finishing second with a score of eight-under par (208). DeLong scored a low round 67 (-5) in the first round, shot par (72) in the second, and scored 3-under (69) in the third. His score is tied with the second lowest 54-hole score in school history. He notched 13 birdies in 54-holes, and one eagle on a par 4 326-yard ninth-hole in the third round.
Nick Krueger led the Lakers in birdies registering 14 in three rounds. Krueger tallied one eagle in the final round on a par 5 565-yard 16th-hole to end the day tied for ninth at one-under par (215 - 70,71,74).
Eric Nunn also tied for ninth scoring -1 (215). Nunn notched four birdies in the final round to move up 19 spots on the leaderboard from day one.
Drew Coble tied for 40th carding a 75 (+3) in the third round for a three round total of 221 (+5).
Tanner Moore carded his best round of golf on day two at two-under par (70) in the third round. Moore tallied five birdies in the third round to help secure the Lakers victory over second place Findlay. He finished the invite tied for 60th carding 225 (+9).
The Lakers will next compete at the Argonaut Invitational in Pensacola, Florida at the Pensacola Country Club on April 4-5.
