ALLENDALE, Mich. - The Grand Valley State men's and women's track and field team opens their outdoor track season at the Miami - Blizzard Buster on Friday, March 18 in Oxford, Ohio. The throws, jumps, sprints, and hurdles team will be competing in Oxford while pole vault travels to Bradenton, Florida to compete at IMG - Spring Break on March 18 - 19.

Freshman
Alaina Omonode returns to the field after placing fourth in weight throw at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships, she also reached a qualifying mark in shot put (13.85m). Omonode will compete in shot put and hammer throw on Friday.  Also competing in shot put will be
Mackenzie Bohrer who placed third at the GLIAC Indoor Championships. Breaking out the javelins this season will be Laker newcomer
Bobby Maxwell, Maxwell placed 5th at the 2021 GLIAC Championships while competing for Saginaw Valley.
Chloe Norman will take on the javelin throw for the women's team.Â
In jumps, the men's triple jump GLIAC Indoor Champion,Â
Mac Mitchell, will be competing. Mitchell won the 2021 GLIAC Outdoor Championships in the triple jump. Also competing will be GLIAC Indoor Champion
Chanse Setzke in the long jump.Â
Sprinters
Isabel Abdouch and
Deji'ona Simpson will make their outdoor debuts competing in the 200m. Abdouch placed third at the GLIAC Indoor Championships in the 400m, followed by Simpson in fourth. SophomoreÂ
Corrina Courser and freshman Brooke Barkocy are schedule to compete in the 100m hurdles. Courer and Barkocy placed first and third at the GLIAC Indoor Championships, respectively. Â
On the men's team,
Max Darling will be competing in the 100m. Darling placed sixth in 60m and fourth in the 200m at the Indoor Championships.
Calvin Hatcher returns to the outdoor track after not competing in the 2022Â indoor season. Hatcher placed fourth at the 2021 GLIAC Outdoor Championships in hte 100m and 200m. He will compete in the 200m on Friday.Â
