SAULT STE. MARIE—The Grand Valley State men's basketball team dropped a matchup with Lake Superior State, 79-75, in overtime on Saturday inside the Bud Cooper Gymnasium.

Isaiah Carver-Bagley scored a game-high 20 points for GVSU on Saturday. Carver-Bagley's performance included season-highs in points (20), made field goals (seven) and 3-point field goals (four). He also added three rebounds to his stat line.

Britain Harris shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field, including a 4-for-4 performance from behind the 3-point line. Harris also had three rebounds, an assist and a steal. Carver-Bagley and
Jalen Charity collected a team-high six rebounds each.

The Lakers (3-6, 0-2 GLIAC) got out to a hot start. At one point in the first half, GVSU went on a 16-0 run. The Lakers also shot 65.2 percent (15-for-23) from the field and 66.7 percent (8-for-12) from 3-point range. GVSU led 41-32 at the half.

Lake Superior State (3-4, 2-0) took GVSU to its first overtime game since Feb. 20, 2020. In that contest nearly three years ago, GVSU beat Northern Michigan in double overtime.

The loss marks the first time this season GVSU has lost when outshooting its opponent. GVSU shot the ball at a 56.8 percent clip while only allowing Lake Superior State to make 37.9 percent of its shots. The Lakers also outrebounded Lake Superior State 30-29.Â

The Lakers' next game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Tuesday against Quincy in Quincy, Illinois.
