The #1-ranked Grand Valley State women's basketball team claimed an 84-33 exhibition victory over the 2022 D3 runner-up Wisconsin-Whitewater Friday afternoon at the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena. The Lakers will open the 2022-23 season Friday, Nov. 11 at Missouri-St. Louis. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
GVSUÂ led after one quarter of action 18-6 and built a 39-19 lead after 20 minutes. The Lakers outscored the Warhawks 22-8 in the third quarter and closed the game with a 23-6 advantage in the fourth stanza. Grand Valley State converted 33-of-63 shots from the floor (52.4%), recorded 23 steals and held a 41-26 rebounding advantage. Wisconsin-Whitewater hit just 10-of-39 shots (25.6) and turned the ball over 42 times.
