Four Lakers Earn D2CCA Midwest All-Region First Team Honors

Taylor Reid named Midwest Region Player of the Year

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State women's soccer team saw four players be named to the D2CCA Midwest Region first team. Kennedy Bearden, Cate Brown, and Mackenzie Jones earned first team honors, while Taylor Reid was named the Midwest Region Player of the Year and first team honors. The D2CCA All-Region teams were announced Tuesday (Nov. 15) morning. 
 
Junior forward Taylor Reid was named the D2CCA Midwest Region Player of the Year and earned All-Region first team honors. Reid was also named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team. Reid has appeared in all 21 matches making 20 starts on the season. She leads the Lakers with 15 goals on the season and has dished out two assists for 32 points. Reid has scored seven goals over the last five matches. She's posted three multi-goal games and five game-winning goals. She was named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week when she scored a goal in a win over Northern Michigan and the game-winning goal against Michigan Tech. Reid becomes the 10th Laker to be named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year. 
 
Senior defender Cate Brown earned D2CCA Midwest All-Region first team honors. Brown was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-GLIAC First Team. Brown led a suffocating Laker defense that has surrendered just 11 goals in conference play. She was a major contributor to nine total shutouts and has notched a goal and five assists on the season. Brown led all Laker field players with 1,390 minutes played including seven complete games. She has notched one goal and dished out six assists for eight points on the season.
 
Senior forward Kennedy Bearden and junior midfielder Mackenzie Jones earned D2CCA Midwest All-Region first team honors. Both Bearden and Jones were named to the All-GLIAC first team. Bearden has notched 13 goals and seven assists for a team leading 33 points this season. Bearden has scored five game-winning goals. Jones has posted three goals and two assists for eight points this season. Jones was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week after her defensive efforts in a pair of conference wins over Parkside and Purdue Northwest.
