GVSU Defense Shines in Midweek Road Victory

FINDLAY, Ohio—The Grand Valley State men's basketball team won a road matchup against Findlay, 73-65, on Wednesday night at the Croy Physical Education Center.
 
The Laker defense led the way to victory and put clamps on the Oilers in the second half. Findlay, which averaged 85 points per game through its firsts two contests, managed to score just 65 points and scored 28 points in the second half.
 
GVSU's defense was rock solid in crunch time. The Lakers allowed three points in the final 4:35 of play. The lone 3-point basket came with just 11 seconds remaining when the game was well in hand for the Lakers.
 
Marius Grazulis was GVSU's leading scorer on Wednesday. He scored 15 points and added three rebounds. Isaiah Carver-Bagley led the Lakers in rebounding with eight rebounds. Daniel Kiely led the Lakers with four assists.
 
The Lakers took a, 42-37, lead into the halftime break. Smith scored the first seven points for GVSU, but it was Grazulis who led the way with 10 first-half points. Ethan Alderink collected four rebounds in the first half of play.
