The #1-ranked Grand Valley State football team dominated in all three phases of the game en route to claiming a 42-7 GLIAC road win at Michigan Tech on an incredible October Saturday in Houghton. The Lakers, who improve to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in GLIAC action, will host Wayne State next Saturday (Nov. 5) in a 3 p.m. GLIAC contest at Lubbers Stadium. Grand Valley State will honor their football seniors prior to the game, as well as honoring the 2002 National Champion football team.
The Lakers started fast in all three phases of the game, forcing Michigan Tech into a punt after three offensive plays, blocking the ensuing punt and then driving 42 yards in five plays for a touchdown. Junior RB

The Lakers dominated the second half with three long scoring drives. GVSU opened with an 8-play, 66-yard drive that was kept alive when Peterson hit WR

GVSU rolled up 552 yards of total offense, 237 on the ground and 315 through the air. Peterson had a near perfect day, completing 18-of-19 passes for 304 yards and one TD, while rushing for 64 yards on six carries. Peterson went over the 1,000-yard career rushing mark (1,046) with his 64 rushing yards, becoming just the fourth QB in Laker football history to accomplish that feat. Tillman tallied career-highs with 10 catches for 191 yards and one TD, while Tierney added five receptions for 106 yards. Tillman and Tierney's 100-yard receiving games marked the first time since 2016 that the Lakers had two receivers break the 100-yard receiving mark. Nott led the ground game with 76 yards and one TD on three carries. Peterson tallied 368 yards of total offense, while Tillman (191), Nott (133) and Tierney each went over the 100-yard mark for all-purpose yards.
