Volleyball Readies For Crosstown Showdown Rematch With Davenport

ALLENDALE, MICH. – The Grand Valley women's volleyball team has a quick turnaround this week, taking a short trip over to Davenport tomorrow for part two of the Crosstown Showdown Tuesday night at 7pm.
 
A tough weekend for GVSU drops them to 14-10 overall and 7-6 in conference, where they currently are in sixth place. The Lakers fell to Davenport at home in the first matchup of the season in four sets. Kendall Stover continues to pace the Lakers with 235 kills and Rachel Jacquay added to her team-leading 494 assists. Jordyn Gates leads the team with 306 digs, while Jaelianna Primus has a team high 67 blocks.
 
The Panthers enter the match with a 19-6 record overall, and are in a tie for second in the GLIAC at 10-3, coming off a weekend in which they lost to Northern Michigan in five sets and then swept Michigan Tech. DU is on a roll entering this matchup, winning 11 of their past 13 matches, sweeping six of those opponents. Davenport is led by the top attacker in the GLIAC in Hayley Kreiger, who leads the conference in kills (456), kills per set (4.8), points (512), and points per set (5.4). Their setter, Lexie Beeke, ranks seventh in the GLIAC with 545 assists. Kenzy Corstange is tops in the conference with 483 digs, while Bethany Wilson's 70 blocks puts her seventh.
