Thursday, Jan. 6 vs. Northwood - Live Stats | Live Video

The GVSU women's basketball team is back in action as they travel to Northwood University on Thursday, Jan. 6 with tip off set for 6:00 p.m. The last conference matchup for the Lakers was on Saturday, Dec. 11 against Parkside, where GVSU advanced to 3-1 in the GLIAC and are now 10-1 overall heading into Thursday's matchup.

Due to a game cancellation against Central State on Dec. 31, this will be the first game for the Lakers since defeating Lewis University on Monday, Dec. 20. The Lakers defeated the Flyers 65-60 and were led by Rylie Bisballe who finished with 22 points and eight rebounds, followed by senior Hannah Kulas who scored 14 points and grabbed six boards for the Lakers.

GVSU currently sits in third in the GLIAC with a record of 3-1 and is second in the conference in blocks per game (3.9) and third in rebounds per game (40.9). Sophomore Rylie Bisballe is fourth in the GLIAC in free throw percentage (91.7%) and sophomore Ellie Droste is fourth in the GLIAC in three point percentage (44.4%). The Lakers are also ranked #16 in the nation in the WBCA NCAA DII Top 25 Coaches Poll and are #3 in the Midwest Region in NCAA DII D2SIDA Region Polls.

The Northwood Timberwolves are 6-5 overall and are looking for their first win in the GLIAC as they enter Thursday with an 0-4 conference record. The Timberwolves are coming off of a 43 point victory over Ohio Dominican, where NU won 91-48 on Saturday, Dec. 18. Last year the Lakers fell 82-59 to the Timberwolves in their first matchup, but were able to bounce back and win 77-52 in their second matchup.
