No. 2 GVSU shuts out Parkside Friday night in GLIAC action

Lakers improve to 7-0 in sixth clean sheet of the season

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 2 Grand Valley State Lakers dominated possession and chances in a 2-0 win over the Parkside Rangers Friday (Sept. 24) night at the GVSU Soccer Field. The Lakers improve to 7-0 on the year and 3-0 in GLIAC play with six clean sheets as they get set to hit the road to face Purdue Northwest Sunday (Sept. 26) at 1 ET.

A bevvy of chances saw the Lakers swarming before they finally broke through at the half-hour mark. A foul deep in Parkside territory set up the chance as Cate Brown chipped the ball into the center of the box for Cecilia Steinwascher to head off the turf and into the corner netting for the lead. It was the third goal of the season for the three-time All-American. Alicia White would give the Lakers breathing room right at the end of the half on an assist from Darline Radamaker.

The Lakers continued to apply pressure and pour shots on in the second half, striking the post a few times and seeing the opposing goalkeeper make some quality saves to keep the number at two. The Lakers are back in action Sunday on the road in Hammond, Indiana. GVSULakers.com will provide live coverage links and @GVSUSoccer will tweet live updates.
