HOUGHTON, Mich. – The No. 2 Grand Valley State Lakers blanked the Michigan Tech Huskies, 2-0, Sunday (Sept. 19) afternoon. The Lakers improve to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. GVSU will return home Friday (Sept. 24) to host Parkside at 7 PM.
 
Kennedy Bearden got the Lakers on the board in 20' when she smashed home a rebound after Taylor Reid's initial shot was saved. It was the fifth goal for Bearden in six games and she has recorded at least one point in all six games played this season. Sarah Smolinksi would give the Lakers breathing room in the 53' with her first goal of the year.
 
Callie Rich earned the solo shutout with a career-high seven saves to keep the Huskies off the board. The lakers have now outscored their opponents 20-2 this season with five shutouts in six games.
