The Grand Valley State Lakers will head to the Upper Peninsula to begin conference play at Michigan Tech on Friday, Sept. 17 and Northern Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 18. This will be the ninth and tenth match in a row on the road, as the Lakers won't open up at home until Saturday, Oct. 2.
"While we are not home yet, we are excited to get going with the start of the GLIAC season," said head coach Jason Johnson. "The past two weekends of play should have prepared us for what is to come on the road against Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan, the two top teams in the conference. Michigan Tech is a very experienced and talented team that has had a lot of success during the tenure of their players. Playing in Houghton will be an exciting challenge against a veteran team. On Saturday we will have a chance to play against the conference champions from last year, who are very talented and well-coached. I'm looking forward to both matches and the opportunity to see how much our team has grown through the first two weekends."
