KENOSHA, Wisc. – The No. 3 Grand Valley State Lakers dominated for a bounce-back win, 4-0, over the Parkside Rangers on Friday (March 26) in their first road match of the season. Four different Lakers scored to help the team improve to 2-0-1 to start the season.
The Lakers outshot Parkside 41-0 and earned 17 corners without conceding a single one in the one-sided showing. After several near-misses,
Mackenzie Jones finally broke through in the 26' on a
Cecilia Steinwascher corner insert.
The Lakers took a 1-0 lead into the break before unloading three tallies in the second half. In the 54' the Lakers strung together a six-pass combo capped by an
Ava Cook cross for
Caitie Baron to hammer home to double the lead. In the 65' Cook would turn goal-scorer as she bullied behind the back line to riffle one into the back of the net.
Chantel Carranza capped off the scoring with her third goal in as many games in the 89' to tack another one on for good measure.
GVSU is back in action on Sunday (March 28) when they visit Purdue Northwest.
