No. 3 Women's Soccer routes Purdue Northwest Sunday

Six Lakers score as GVSU drops Pride, 12-0

HAMMOND, Ind. – The No. 3 Grand Valley State Lakers erupted for a 12-0 win over the Purdue Northwest Pride Sunday (March 28) afternoon. The Lakers, who out-shot Purdue Northwest 36-1 on the day, improve to 3-0-1 on the season.

Four different Lakers recorded multiple goals and six players scored, led by a four-goal performance by Ava Cook; her second hat-trick of the season to give her eight goals through four matches. Chantel Carranza, Sydney O'Donnell and Taylor Reid all recorded two goals and Cecilia Steinwascher and Greta Deloach each added a tally.

The Lakers scored six goals in the first half, including four in the first half-hour. O'Donnell scored the unassisted game-winner in the 13' before a trio of goals in a six-minute stretch leading to the half-hour mark to break things open. They would match that goal total in the second half. Callie Rich made a save on the only shot of the day for the Pride to earn the shutout.

The Lakers have now scored 25 goals on the season. No other team in the GLIAC has reached double-digits in scoring so far. The Lakers will face Northwood and Ferris State on the road next weekend.
