ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Grand Valley State volleyball team will welcome Davenport to the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena for a Friday night (7:00 PM) matchup before traveling to Grand Rapids to take on the Panthers on Saturday afternoon (1:00 PM).
 
The Lakers own a 5-1 record after sweeping Saginaw Valley State last weekend on the road. Junior Ali Thompson had a big night on Friday, recording 23 kills and 18 digs to help the Lakers to a five-set win. On Saturday, a trio of Lakers finished with double digit kills, Lisa Sullivan (12), Abby Graham (11), Jaelianna Primus (11). Setter Rachel Jacquay tallied 93 assists on the weekend and for her efforts, was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. GVSU is currently leading the GLIAC South Division and is in a four-way tie for the top spot in the league with Ferris State, Northern Michigan, and Northwood.
 
Davenport (4-2) enters the weekend on a four-match win streak after dropping the first two matches of the season with Ashland. The Panthers swept Purdue Northwest and Lake Superior State the past two weekend while only dropping one set in the process. Hayley Kreiger leads the Panthers with 64 kills on the season.
