The Grand Valley State volleyball team will play their season opener on Friday night at home vs. Parkside with first serve set for 7:00 PM. The two teams will turn around and play again on Saturday at 4:00 PM. Friday night will begin the 14-game conference only season as the fall season was canceled.

The Lakers were picked to finish second in the GLIAC South in the annual preseason coaches' poll. Ashland was voted to win the South, while Michigan Tech was picked to win the GLIAC North. GVSU brings back the reigning GLIAC Freshman of the Year, Jaeli Primus, who led the GLIAC in blocks with 124 and recorded 270 kills. Junior
Ali Thompson was an All-GLIAC Second teamer last season as she led the team in kills with 314, while also totaling 334 digs and 34 service aces. Redshirt sophomore

Lisa Sullivan (Army West Point) all bring experience playing at the Division 1 level and will look to make an immediate impact.

Parkside finished 11-19 overall and 6-11 in GLIAC play last season, but return four of their top players in Rachel Hedman, Jazmine Neal, Reese Rossnagel, and Lexi Packard. The Rangers concluded last year on a three-match win streak including a win at GVSU.
