ALLENDALE, Mich. – The No. 1 Grand Valley State Lakers held on for a 2-1 win over Northern Michigan in the semifinals of the GLIAC Tournament Friday (Nov. 12) at a snowy GVSU Soccer Field. The Lakers improve to 18-0-2 on the season and will face the winner of Ferris State vs. Saginaw Valley in the championship match Sunday at 1 PM in Allendale.
All three goals were scored in a quick, three-minute span. The Lakers took the lead at the 20' mark when
Kennedy Bearden drove in from the left wing and centered a ball that was just beyond the Wildcat keeper's reach and
Taylor Reid was able to finish it off.
Two minutes later, NMU answered but less than :30 later,
Caitie Baron finished off a combination to put the Lakers in front for good. Bearden combined with
Mackenzie Jones for the assists. Jones has points in both games of the GLIAC Tournament.
Kendall Robertson made a career-best four saves for the Lakers in the win.
