The Grand Valley State volleyball is back at home this weekend as they host Lake Superior State on Friday, Oct. 22, and Northwood on Sunday, Oct. 24. The Lakers are coming off of a 3-0 performance at the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament where they defeated Ohio Dominican, University of Indianapolis, and Southern Indiana.
The Lakers are 12-7 overall and are 5-3 in conference play. GVSU currently sits in second in the GLIAC South Division behind 6-2 Ferris State. Overall, the Lakers are fourth in the GLIAC behind Michigan Tech, Wayne State, and Ferris.
The Lakers are second in the GLIAC in blocks (158) and blocks per set (2.19), as well as second in kills (960) and kills per set (13.33). Junior setter Rachel Jacquay is first in the GLIAC in total assists this season (771) and junior Sarah Wight is second in blocks per set (1.09).
On Friday, Oct. 22, the Lakers will host Lake Superior State at 7:00 p.m. in their "Dig Pink" match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. Those attending are encouraged to wear pink. LSSU is 2-16 overall and are 2-5 in conference play. Lake State is coming off of a 0-3 weekend in the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament. The LSSU Lakers are currently sitting ninth in the GLIAC
The Lakers will host Northwood on Sunday, Oct. 24, at 2:00 p.m. The Timberwolves are currently 10-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Northwood is also coming off of a 0-3 weekend in the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament. The Timberwolves are right behind GVSU as they are fifth overall in the GLIAC.
