Lakers Travel to Compete in the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament

GVSU will play three matches in Hammond, Indiana

The Grand Valley State women's volleyball team will compete in the Midwest Crossover Tournament this weekend. After being held in Indianapolis years prior, the tournament this year will be held at the Hammond Sportsplex in Hammond, Ind. The crossover features every team from the GLIAC, GLVC, and GMAC in the nation's largest collegiate volleyball tournament where each team plays three matches. There are 38 schools competing from eight different states. 

On Friday, Oct. 15, the Lakers will play Ohio Dominican at 11:00 a.m. CST (12:00 p.m. EST) and the University of Indianapolis at 6:00 p.m. CST (7:00 p.m. EST). On Saturday, Oct. 16, the Lakers will play the University of Southern Indiana at 12:45 p.m. CST (1:45 p.m. EST). GVSU heads into the tournament with an overall record of 9-7 and GLIAC record of 5-3. After falling to Saginaw Valley and Wayne State last weekend, the Lakers are now sitting in second in the GLIAC South Division. 

The Lakers will start tournament play on Friday with Ohio Dominican. The Panthers are 11-7 overall and are 5-4 in the GMAC. GVSU is undefeated against Ohio Dominican, winning the overall series 8-0. 

GVSU will play the University of Indianapolis on Friday evening. The Greyhounds are 10-8 overall and are 6-3 in the GLVC. This will be the 13th matchup between the Greyhounds and the Lakers. Grand Valley State is leading the overall series 10-2. 

On Saturday, the Lakers will face the University of Southern Indiana. The Eagles are 11-6 overall and 5-4 in the GLVC. GVSU is also undefeated against the Eagles, winning the overall series 8-0.
