#9 Grand Valley State (3-0, 1-0) will continue GLIAC action on the road Saturday (Sept. 28) at Michigan Tech (2-1, 0-1) in the home opener for the Huskies. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Sherman Field. The Lakers are coming off a 27-3 victory at Northwood, while the MTU dropped a 23-7 decision at Saginaw Valley State.
Grand Valley State leads the all-time series by a 27-4 margin. The Lakers claimed a 45-20 victory over the Huskies a year ago in Allendale and defeated the Huskies 42-7 in 2017 in Houghton. GLIAC DEFENSIVE POW

Isaiah Nkansah was named the D2Football.com National and GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lakers' 28-24 win over Delta State. Nkansah recorded a career-high and the third-best, single-game total tackles mark in GVSU football history with 20 stops (6 solo/14 assisted), while adding two tackles for loss (-10) and two QB sacks (-10). Nkansah played a key role in the Lakers' defense holding Delta State to three consecutive field goal attempts (2 missed/1 blocked) and a fourth quarter goal line stand from the 1-yard line that netted -3 yards. Â His two QB sacks came at crucial times, the second on a third down when DSU needed a first down to keep a drive alive late in the fourth quarter. Nkansah, who leads the GLIAC in tackles (25) in 2019, has recorded 165 career stops and 13.5 tackles for loss.

Aryuan Cain-Veasey was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Lakers' 35-10 win over Edinboro. Cain-Veasey, who rushed for a career-high 200 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries, scored on runs of 48, 94 and 29 yards. In addition, he averaged 18.2 yards per carry and his 94 yard TD run was the third longest in program history, while also becoming the 22nd player to reach the 200-yard rushing mark in a single-game. In 2018, Cain-Veasey rushed for 210 yards and one TD on 30 carries.Â
• The Laker defense held Edinboro to 13 rushing yards, the fewest yards for an opponent since holding Truman State to 27 yards in 2016.Â
