The Grand Valley State women's tennis team's season came to end on Wednesday, May 22, after they fell to Lynn, 4-0, in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Championships in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The Lakers end their season with a 23-5 overall record, while the Fighting Knights improve to 25-0.

GVSU fought hard in doubles, but Lynn scored the match's first points with wins from the No. 1 and No. 3 pairings.
Marija Leko and
Madison Ballard dropped a tough 6-0 decision from No. 1 doubles, while
Livia Christman and
Nicole Heiniger were defeated at the 6-1 from No. 3 doubles.
Marily Canellopoulos and
Vera Griva played out of the No. 2 slot, as their match went unfinished after they were down 3-2.

In singles, the Lakers were unable to find their groove as the Fighting Knights scored three straight points to clinch the match. Ballard played from the No. 2 position and fell 6-1, 6-0, while Leko was defeated 6-1, 6-1 from the No. 3 spot. Lynn scored one more point on the afternoon after Canellopoulos dropped a 6-0, 6-1, decision from the No. 4 singles position.
