GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The #3 ranked Grand Valley State women's basketball team will travel crosstown to Davenport University on Saturday (Dec. 14) to take on the Panthers in a GLIAC matchup at the DU Student Center beginning at 1:00 PM.

GAME NOTES
The Lakers (8-0) are off to their best start since the 2010-11 season when they began 9-0 before finishing with an overall record of 20-8. GVSU opened GLIAC play last week with a pair of home games against Parkside and Purdue Northwest which each resulted in 28+ point victories. On Thursday, the Lakers scored over 100 points for the first time since December of 2015 and broke the school record for points in a quarter (39 points - 3rd quarter) as they routed Parkside 109-70. GVSU continued their dominance on Saturday with a 74-46 win over Purdue Northwest to move their GLIAC record to 2-0.
Senior center
Cassidy Boensch earned GLIAC South Player of the Week for the second consecutive week after scoring 31 points (13-14 FG) and grabbing 10 rebounds against Parkside while following that performance with 27 points (13-19 FG) and 15 rebounds on Saturday vs. Purdue Northwest. Boensch leads the team in scoring (20.5 ppg), rebounding (9.4 rpg), and blocks (3.8), which ranks fourth in the country. Senior guard
Jenn DeBoer scored a season-high 22 points vs. Parkside and recorded her first career double-double against Purdue Northwest with 10 points and 12 assists. The Byron Center, Mich. native is currently averaging 10.6 points per game, 6.0 assists per game and 4.6 rebounds per game. Senior forward
Maddie Dailey is also averaging in double-figures with 15.6 points per game.
As a team, the Lakers rank amongst the nation's leaders in several statistical categories. GVSU is the only team in the country to rank in the top-five in both field goal % and field goal % defense as they shoot 51.9% from the field while holding their opponents to a miniscule 30.7% clip.

Davenport will enter Saturday with a 4-5 record overall and an 0-2 GLIAC record. The Panthers were on a four-game winning streak including wins over Hillsdale and Findlay before dropping their first two games of conference play against Purdue Northwest and Parkside last week.
The Panthers have four players averaging at least 12 points per game with freshman Madison Jones leading the way with 18.6 ppg. Senior center Jenna Falkenberg, a Preseason All-GLIAC selection, returned last week after missing the first seven games of the season. Falkenberg recorded a double-double in her debut with 16 points and 14 rebounds and scored 11 points against Parkside on Saturday. As a team, Davenport leads the GLIAC in both free throw % (78.7%) and steals per game (14.6), while ranking fourth in points per game at 77.4.
GVSU leads the all-time series with Davenport, 6-0, including a 73-48 win in Allendale last February.
