INDIANAPOLIS – The Grand Valley State Lakers fell, 95-71, to the Indianapolis Greyhounds in their first road game of the season Sunday (Nov. 17) at Nicoson Hall. The Lakers fall to 3-1 on the season while UIndy improves to 4-0 to start the year.
The Lakers hung tough with the host Greyhounds for the first half hour of the game, trailing by five at halftime, 49-45, and working back within two points, 52-50, a few minutes into the second half. But Indianapolis would hit a pair of quick threes to spark a 7-0 run to pull away and the Lakers would never recover.
Three Lakers scored in double figures despite the loss.
Christian Negron scored 17 points and snagged eight rebounds, both team highs, with three blocks while
Jake Van Tubbergen scored 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting with five rebounds despite limited first-half action because of two fouls.
Jeremiah Ferguson had 15 points. The Lakers are on the road again next weekend for the Don Callan Classic, taking on Cedarville Friday (Nov. 22) at 7:45 PM.
